Ubisoft Montreal brings Assassin’s Creed II with vast improvements over its predecessor. The game provides a gripping storyline, excellent mission structure, gorgeous graphics and solid gameplay. So this seems like a random post that doesn’t follow the pattern of my other posts here on Nimble Ogre.  Yet, remember this is The Ramblings of Sha’ul not exactly the “new” Engadget or Worldstarhiphop.com.

Anyways, I heard about this today on Bloomberg Radio, the WISE program from NASA.  It will map the sky in infrared to see the origin of star systems, find new stars, galaxies and more.  I’ve been obsessed with space since childhood, and of course Mass Effect (on a side space dork note).  This truly is amazing.  The WISE program begins in roughly 4 days.

“WISE is a NASA-funded Explorer mission that will provide a vast storehouse of knowledge about the solar system, the Milky Way, and the Universe. Among the objects WISE will study are asteroids, the coolest and dimmest stars, and the most luminous galaxies.

WISE is an unmanned satellite carrying an infrared-sensitive telescope that will image the entire sky. Since objects around room temperature emit infrared radiation, the WISE telescope and detectors are kept very cold (below -430° F /15 Kelvins, which is only 15° Centigrade above absolute zero) by a cryostat — like an ice chest but filled with solid hydrogen instead of ice.

Solar panels will provide WISE with the electricity it needs to operate, and will always point toward the Sun. Orbiting several hundred miles above the dividing line between night and day on Earth, the telescope will look out at right angles to the Sun and will always point away from Earth. As WISE orbits from the North pole to the equator to the South pole and then back up to the North pole, the telescope will sweep out a circle in the sky. As the Earth moves around the Sun, this circle will move around the sky, and after six months WISE will have observed the whole sky.

As WISE sweeps along the circle a small mirror scans in the opposite direction, capturing an image of the sky onto an infrared sensitive digital camera which will take a picture every 11 seconds. Each picture will cover an area of the sky 3 times larger than the full Moon. After 6 months WISE will have taken nearly 1,500,000 pictures covering the entire sky. Each picture will have one megapixel at each of four different wavelengths that range from 5 to 35 times longer than the longest waves the human eye can see. Data taken by WISE will be downloaded by radio transmission 4 times per day to computers on the ground which will combine the many images taken by WISE into an atlas covering the entire celestial sphere and a list of all the detected objects.”

Who said Twitter was just for whiny celebs bitching about menial problems?  Some of us actually use it for positive networking and productivity.  In the case of New Jeru’s Fuze B and Baltimore’s Mark Milly it has helped them propel their music to audiences in other states and worldwide.

Enter Friendly Competition as the title suggestions, a friendly yet competitive showcase of skills between the two MC’s from the northern regions of the USA.  They bring the heat to melt polar ice caps.  It is quite an enjoyable collection of music, giving a glimpse of more greatness.

The game seems like leagues above its predecessor, in terms of story pacing, enemies, etc.  Seems like the people at Renegade Kid took into consideration all input from fans and adjusted for the sequel.  Not sure what I mean?  Well I won’t spoil the interesting interview.  Head on over to GamingBits.com for the full interview.

I must say this game isn’t as easy as it’s simple control nature and structure would have you believe.  It has come to the point where I needed to use a strategy guide to get me through this episode, The Bogey Man, which is probably 4 hours in length. Smh. LOL.

What will I give the game for it’s final score? hmm. Wonderful question, yet the readers will have to wait.

Mr. Essex (thehiphopeffect on Twitter) known for his blog iDopeBoy which is a great mixture of critiques and showcasing of soulful music; brings a mixtape (along with Incredible Creation and Hail Megatron) with worldwide flavor.

The concept behind this mixtape is quite simple, and I quote: “to see whether or not a whole mixtape could be put together in a day and whether or not my network could make it happen. With a little help and 7 hours of work it was finally made.”

The Mixtape Named After Christina Aguilera, features various up and coming artists worldwide, a few are my fellow cohorts.  Most notably is the Baltimore Bully, the CEO of YHGM, Mark Milly aka Lucky of TheIncredibleCreation.com.  The Kickdrums also bless this title and they are well-known for their downtempo production.  They’ve also done a title with artist Joell Ortiz, just so you can gauge some of the scope of talent on this project.

The product is quality, and was pieced together in rapid speed.  Kudos to my friends and associates, especially Mr. Essex and Mark Milly. Big UP!

Dj Hero offers a variety of music from Hip-Hop to Rock, which will suit any gamer old and new into music & rhythm games. The turntable controller feels very durable, however the crossfader on the controller will need some adjustment. It doesn’t seem to want to lock into the center very well, causing problems like missing notes, breaking your multiplier, etc. With online multiplayer, downloadable content, and some very challenging tracks, you should definitely give Dj Hero a spin, as it will provide hours upon hours of gameplay and excitement in your living room!

Ill Gates is a DJ, but he also produces, and his mash-ups are impeccable.  People who claim to DJ haven’t really heard anything, until their ears are blessed with this breath of musical fresh air.  The man does it all, from acid crunk to dubstep to glitch, he covers all spectrums of sound.  I’ve heard pretty much all tempos, all sounds from acoustic to electronic expertly crafted by Ill Gates.

His album Autopirate which came out late last year has garnered nothing but excellent reviews.

“This Ottawa-born DJ/producer’s debut artist album shines bright lights on new school hip-hop and South London dub-step, plus there’s a superabundance of bassed-out audio that would fit right in at Ninja Tune.” said Sarah Ferguson of Exclaim.ca.

This is a producer you definitely want to check out if you claim to have any taste in urban or dance music.  Jack of all trades? How about master of many trades? Ill Gates takes a bunch of these wanna-be producers and mops the floor with them, even the DJs need to watch out.

The artstyle is cel shaded yes, but has a more distinct comic book visual effect going on.  Truly amazing to look at.  The missions haven’t been boring from what I’ve done so far.

This is how the game was supposed to look originally, before the change in art style.

I’ve selected the Berserker class, since I’ve heard most people choose the Soldier class, due to its well-roundedness.

I’ve done every mission and side mission as of 3 hours into gaming, I’m sure there is a WHOLE lot more to go.  This game is mad deep.  Let me know your thoughts.  The review will be up shortly on GamingBits.com.

I need to add also that I am an RPG fanatic so the game seems like a must buy.  I also appreciate the fact that Gearbox Software made a fast paced title, unlike Fallout 3, which I can’t play for long periods of time.

Next on the platter is Assassin’s Creed 2.  I am a huge fan of the storyline, I completed part one, 3 times.  This version of the game looks and moves like heavy improvements were implemented.  Ubisoft seems to be adding a lot more RPG elements to the gameplay and varying the side missions.  Can you tell I like RPG games? LOL.

Last, unfortunately for me, is the title being released the same day as AC2; Left 4 Dead 2.  Part 1 has no storyline, which is kind of good, it let’s you create your own mythos mentally.  Valve Software did a great thing with this and luckily the gameplay is addictive enough to distract you from this omission.  The sequel actually looks like there will be more story elements, since this was implied by the trailer.

Replay value is a must along with diversity and enjoyability.  Multiplayer is not a major focus for me, so we might as well factor that into the equation also.  It’s unfortunate in these economic times, I am stuck with this decision.  Of course, I am sure my fellow gamers can help me out. No, No, No not the Airbender.  This is the new trailer from James Cameron’s new soon to be blockbuster flick.  The movie which features human military, arriving on the home planet of the Navi (Pandora) just to mine for a valuable energy resource; looks a-freakin-mazing.  With the use of Stereoscopic cameras, co-developed by Cameron; this is probably one of the finest uses of CG animation and effects in any movie to date. Kudos to the team working with James Cameron on effects.
